Sex offender arrested for allegedly violating parole conditions

A sex offender who RCMP allege violated his release conditions has been arrested, Manitoba RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

Clay Byron Starr, 33, served over a decade in prison after being convicted in 2013 of sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, fleeing a police officer and failing to comply with a probation order, police previously said.

He was released from a maximum-security facility in Ontario on June 20.

In a July news release, RCMP said Starr was supposed to live in Sandy Bay First Nation as part of his parole conditions but was believed to be frequenting the Winnipeg and Brandon areas.

Clay Byron Starr is also known as Chad Crate, Clayton Starr, Richard Starr, Clay Richard and Byron Richard.
