1 dead, 1 critically hurt in North York shooting
One person is dead and another has been rushed to hospital after a shooting in North York on Tuesday, Toronto police and paramedics say.
Police said the shooting happened in the area of Driftwood Avenue and Jane Street. Officers were called to the area for the sound of gunshots shortly after 2:15 p.m.
Police said the person who died was pronounced dead at the scene. The other person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to paramedics.
Two firearms have been recovered and police said they are looking for suspects.
Local schools have been placed in an hold and secure while officers investigate, police said.
