Carbon-monoxide leak at Rockyford arena sends 3 to hospital
A carbon monoxide incident Saturday night at the Rockyford arena sent several children to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
A post on the town’s Facebook page says several children were treated on scene and three spent the night at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
The post states high levels of carbon monoxide were detected inside the building around 7 p.m. Saturday night and the arena was evacuated.
The Rockyford fire department and ATCO determined a radiant heater was defective and caused the emissions to vent into the building.
The arena will remain closed until the heaters are repaired and follow-up inspection is conducted to ensure everything is safe.
Rockyford is approximately 88 kiloemtres east of Calgary.
