Firefighters battle fire in bungalow in Ottawa’s west end

There are no reports of injuries following a morning fire in the Ridgeview neighbourhood in Ottawa’s west end.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire on Southwood Drive, near Iris Street, at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.
The Ottawa Fire Services posted video on X of firefighters battling the fire, with smoking continuing to billow out of the roof of the bungalow. An Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson says the fire was in the basement of the home.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from several blocks away.
An Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson said no one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is the seventh fire Ottawa firefighters have responded to this week.
Three people have been displaced following a Thursday morning fire on Ron Kolbus Private. Firefighters responded to a call for a fire in the dryer at a three-storey building.
Ten people were displaced by a fire in a townhouse on Ogilvie Road on Tuesday morning.
