Manitoba woman charged with arson, endangering animals after house fire: RCMP
A 37-year-old Manitoba woman faces arson and animal curelty charges after police say she set her home ablaze with her two dogs and three cats inside.
Police were called to McLean Avenue in Selkirk, Man., on Saturday night and found a house completely engulfed in flames with the fire department and emergency personnel already on scene, RCMP said in a Monday news release.
The woman was already outside the house and was unhurt when emergency responders arrived, but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Selkirk RCMP’s found the woman set her house on fire intentionally and arrested upon her release from hospital. She was charged with arson, as well as charges for endangering animals and causing animals unnecessary suffering.
The woman was remanded until a court date later this week.
The fire commissioner’s office and Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate the fire.
