Cochrane RCMP reroute traffic along Highway 1A due to grass fire

Cochrane RCMP are rerouting traffic due to a grass fire along Highway 1A, between Range Road 60 and Morley Road.
Traffic is being re-routed and Highway 1A is not passable, according to a news release from the RCMP sent Tuesday afternoon.
“Eastbound traffic is being diverted to Highway 1 at Morley Road and westbound traffic is being diverted back to Cochrane and Highway 22 at Ghost Lake Cottages,” reads the release.
The fire department and Volker Stevin, which helps maintain highways in the area, are also responding.
Police are urging the public to avoid the area and allow first responders to safely respond.
RCMP are expected to provide an update when more information becomes available.
