Driver dies after single-vehicle rollover on Highway 407 in Markham

A driver has died after a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 407 in Markham Thursday morning, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The incident happened at about 10 a.m. eastbound on the highway near Kennedy Road, the OPP said in a post on X.

Police said the driver was the only person in the vehicle.

All eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 407 were closed between Woodbine and Warden avenues as officers investigated, but police said at 3:35 p.m. that they are beginning to reopen the highway and its ramps.

The OPP said the investigation at the scene and cleanup are finished and police have cleared the scene. The guard rail will be repaired, police say.

Earlier, drivers were asked to avoid the area and try to exit the highway at Woodbine Avenue.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashboard camera footage is urged to contact the OPP.
