Calgary police seek suspect after female youth sexually assault on bus in August

Calgary police are investigating after a minor was sexually assaulted on a city bus in Country Hills Village in August.

On Aug. 17 around 9 p.m., a female youth was waiting for a bus at a transit terminal, at 11900 Country Village Link N.E., police said in a release Thursday.

She was approached by a stranger who asked where she was travelling.

Police say it is believed the man then touched the victim inappropriately.

After a bus arrived, the suspect followed the victim onto the transit vehicle and sat down beside her. It is believed he then sexually assaulted the minor.

The driver had noticed something was off between the victim and suspect and intervened, police said.

The suspect then argued with the transit driver before getting off the bus. He was seen leaving the area on a bicycle in a southbound direction carrying three shopping bags.

Police say the man is described as 5-10 to 5-11 tall, around 35 years old, with a medium, muscular build. He was wearing a collared long sleeve shirt, had a noticeable scar or scab above his left eyebrow and black hair cut short that made a V-formation at the back of his head.

Anyone with information about this incident, or the identity of the suspect, is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
