Checkstop Campaign ends in Lethbridge with 10 impaired drivers removed from the road: police

The Lethbridge Police service concluded its annual Checkstop Campaign over the holiday season, resulting in the removal of 10 impaired drivers from the road.

More that 1,200 vehicles were stopped during the month-long enforcement initiative with the goal of locating and apprehending impaired drivers due to the significant risk they pose to public safety.

In addition to the 10 immediate roadside sanctions that were issued, police also executed six search warrants, handing out five criminal charges.

Ten caution tickets were given out for drivers with a blood alcohol content from 0.05 to 0.079, along with two zero tolerance penalties for novice drivers and 123 other violation tickets.
