Fundraiser aims to help family of Calgary’s latest homicide victim
A fundraising effort has been established to help the family of Jalisa Maschki, a woman who was found badly beaten on a Calgary pathway and later died in hospital.
The GoFundMe was established with a goal of $3,000 and is expected to help pay for a funeral and other expenses.
Maschki, 23, was found in medical distress on a pathway near the Fox Hollow Golf Course on Dec. 9.
She was taken to hospital but she later died.
Calgary police said on Dec. 18 that Maschki’s death was a homicide and are looking for help to track down a suspect.
It’s believed the woman was staying at a home in southeast Calgary and she was found on the Nose Creek pathway, about an hour away.
Officials say she was attacked sometime between 9 and 11 p.m.
Investigators say that since releasing some details about the case last week, they’ve received a number of tips but have not made any arrests.
