A Calgary woman in her 90s died Friday morning after being struck by a southbound CTrain just north of Whitehorn station, police said in a release.

A Calgary woman in her 90s died Friday morning after being struck by a southbound CTrain north of Whitehorn station, police said in a release.

Police were called to the intersection of 36th Street N.E. and 44th Avenue, a few blocks north of the LRT station, at around 9:30 a.m.

The woman was crossing 36th Street N.E. westbound on the north end of the intersection when she stepped in front of a train, investigators said.

“The woman suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene,” Calgary police said. “The train driver and the passengers were not injured in the collision.”

It’s believed the warning signals were working at the time, police said.
