ASIRT investigates after Edmonton police officer injured in hit-and-run

ASIRT is investigating after an Edmonton police officer was injured in a hit-and-run on Thursday morning.

Police say the hit-and-run happened on eastbound Whitemud Drive at 17 Street at around 1:30 a.m.

At this time it’s unknown how badly the officer was injured.

Officers pursued the vehicle to 17 Street and Ellerslie Road.

It’s unknown if police have any suspects in custody.

An investigation into the incident caused the closure of eastbound from 34 Street to Anthony Henday Drive and 17 Street and 17 Street in both directions from Whitemud road to Ellerslie Road.
