UPDATE Oct. 3, 2021: The death of a 25-year-old man, found fatally injured in south Edmonton last week, is now being investigated as a homicide.
Samaan Wani, 25, died as a result of a gunshot wound, Edmonton police said in a news release Saturday.
An autopsy completed on Oct. 1 confirmed the cause of death, police said.
Police are still looking for information on a vehicle that was in the area at the time, that may be linked to the targeted shooting. It is believed to be a black Dodge Ram truck.

Police investigating a targeted shooting in south Edmonton late Thursday that left one man dead and another injured are asking the public for dashcam footage.
Police were called to the scene near 23rd Avenue and 106th Street around 9 p.m., police said in a news release Friday.
Two injured men in their 20s were taken to hospital.
One died and the other remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Edmonton Police Service homicide section has taken over the investigation. No arrests have been made, police said.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Oct. 1.
Anyone with dashcam footage from the area of 23rd Avenue between Calgary Trail and 111th Street from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday is asked to contact Edmonton police.
