Red Deer school on lockdown, neighbourhood residents asked to shelter in place as RCMP seek armed person

A Red Deer school is on lockdown and residents in a northside neighbourhood are being asked to shelter in place Friday afternoon while RCMP look for an armed person.
Mounties reported at 2:21 p.m. that they’ve issued the shelter-in-place request for Riverside Meadows area after they received a firearms complaint in the area of 59 Avenue between 60 and 60A streets. Koinonia Christian School, at 6014 57 Ave., has been locked down as a precaution due to the proximity to the initial complaint, RCMP said in a media release.
More information will be shared as the situation develops.
