A 64-year-old man is facing 20 charges in connection with sexual assault incidents on children in Ontario dating back to the 1990s, Peel Regional Police say.

In a news release Wednesday, police said a multi-jurisdictional joint forces investigation with Halton Regional Police and Waterloo Regional Police led to the arrest.

Investigators say the charges are connected to alleged sexual assaults on children that happened between 1992 and 1995.

Police say Richard Neil, 64, from British Columbia, is facing 20 criminal charges, but have not specified how many counts of each of the following:

  • Kidnapping.
  • Uttering death threats.
  • Sexual assault.
  • Sexual assault with a weapon.
  • Sexual interference.
  • Invitation to sexual touching.
  • Administering a noxious substance with intent.

He was held for a bail hearing, according to the release.

“There is a publication ban in place to protect the identity of the victims, and no additional information is being released at this time,” Peel police said in the release.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact investigators.
