1 dead, 3 injured after suspicious Mississauga house fire

One person is dead and three others injured after a house fire in Mississauga that is being investigated as suspicious, emergency services say.

Crews responded to a home on Bromsgrove Road, near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Royal Windsor Drive, around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Mississauga Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi, two people were rescued by firefighters from the residence while two others were able to escape the blaze by themselves.

All four were taken to hospital, Peel paramedics said. The patients included two men and two women, one of whom is elderly.

Two of the people who were in the home were without vital signs, while another had life-threatening injuries. A fourth person’s injuries were considered minor, paramedics said.

It’s not clear which of the people taken to hospital died. 

Peel police said they are investigating the fire as suspicious.
