Building temporarily evacuated after collision in Toronto causes gas leak: police

A building in Toronto was temporarily evacuated on Thursday after a collision caused a gas leak.

In a tweet at around 5:15 p.m., on Thursday, Toronto police said the collision occurred in the Rosseau Road and Laurelcrest Avenue area.

Police said two vehicles were involved in the collision.

Officers said the collision resulted in a gas leak.

According to police, the building was been evacuated “as a precaution.”

Toronto paramedics told Global News one female patient was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Toronto fire said a vehicle had severed the gas line of a building.

In an update just after 7:30 p.m., police said Enbridge had capped off the gas line.

Officers said residents were allowed back into the building.

“No issues to public safety,” the force said in a tweet.
