2 minor injuries following multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in the Napanee area

No students were onboard a school bus involved in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in the Napanee area, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says.

Police say officers recieved a call reporting a multi-vehicle collision Friday shortly after 8:30 a.m. westbound on the highway between Palace Road and County Road 41.

When police arrived on scene, they found two separate collisions contained to the right driving lane and the off-ramp to County Road 41 North.

The OPP says “the original collision occurred when a vehicle lost control in the rain and slid into another vehicle. The second collision occurred when a transport truck ran into a school bus as all vehicles were slowing down for the original collision.”

Two people sustained minor injuries. They were taken to hospital, police say.

The transport truck driver was charged for following the school bus too closely.

Police is still investigating what happened before the original driver lost control of their vehicle, adds the OPP.

The highway was down to one lane and police asked people to expect delays.

All vehicles were towed from the scene and emergency crews have cleared the area. Highway 401 fully reopened, police add.
