More rain and wind are in the forecast Wednesday as a spring storm brings wet and gusty conditions to the GTA.

Toronto and surrounding areas remain under a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada earlier this week.

Rainfall amounts of between 25 and 40 millimetres are expected, while the region could see winds of up to 80 km/h.

Mitch Meredith, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said rain will likely transition to wet snow Wednesday evening, especially in areas farther from Lake Ontario.

Between five and 10 centimetres of snow could accumulate, though some is expected to melt off with temperatures hovering around 0 C or slightly higher.

Commuters in the GTA should anticipate potentially slippery conditions during Thursday’s morning commute, Meredith said.

The gloomy spring weather is forecast to stick around until the weekend, with sunshine and daily temperature highs in the low to mid-teens expected on Saturday and Sunday and through to early next week.
