One person seriously injured after being stabbed on TTC bus

One person has been stabbed on a TTC bus near Old Mill subway station, Toronto police say.

It happened just before 4 p.m. Toronto paramedics say a male victim has been transported to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, police are searching for a suspect described as in their 20s with a medium build and wearing a blue mask and black jacket with the hood up.

Police say the suspect was last seen running on Bloor Street.

“Our thoughts are with the victim in this attack,” the TTC tweeted. “As always, we’ll give police our full support as they investigate, including video and witness statements.”

The stabbing was the second reported violent incident on the TTC on Wednesday. Earlier, two TTC employees were allegedly chased through Dundas Station by a suspect wielding a syringe.

Police had arrested one person in connection to that incident.

The recent attacks on passengers and TTC employees prompted the president of the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents transit workers across Canada, on Wednesday to call for a national transit safety task force.
