Pedestrian put into driver’s car after hit and run found safe, Toronto police say

Toronto police say they have located a driver who allegedly struck a pedestrian and put them in their car before leaving the scene earlier this week, as well as the pedestrian involved in the collision.

In a news release Tuesday, police said a driver in a dark Honda Civic struck a pedestrian while they were crossing the intersection of Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road in Scarborough at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

“Immediately following the collision, the driver of the dark coloured Honda Civic exited and assisted the pedestrian into his vehicle and fled the area at a high rate of speed,” the release said.

On Wednesday afternoon, police said they had located both parties and spoken with them. Police say the pedestrian suffered minor injuries. They won’t comment on whether any charges are pending.

Officers are still investigating the incident and are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam or security video.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers.
