Police search for stolen car after fatal Brampton shooting

Peel police say they are looking for a stolen Honda Civic sedan that they believe is linked to a fatal shooting in Brampton.

Officers were first called to a residence in the area of Sudeley Lane and Finegan Circle shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday by neighbours who reported hearing gunfire, said Const. Tyler Bell.

They found a 30-year-old man on the front step of a home with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bell did not provide any further information about the victim but said it appears he was shot outside.

“This investigation is in its infancy and information is limited,” he told reporters. “We don’t believe this to be a random shooting. Whether the victim was the intended target, that will come out in the forthcoming investigation.”

He said that police have identified a “vehicle of interest” in the shooting and are trying to locate it. The red 2020 Honda Civic with licence plate DAPK152 was recently reported stolen, Bell said.

The car has a yellow racing strap on the front right bumper and gold chrome handles and trim, he added.

Any member of the public who may come across the vehicle should call Peel police and consider its occupants armed and dangerous, Bell said.

Anyone in the area with home security video or dash cam video from around the time of the shooting are asked to call police and to hold on to it, as officers will also be canvassing in the area over the next several days, Bell said.
