Toronto-area hospitals welcome first babies of 2025

Hospitals in the Toronto area are welcoming some of the first babies born in 2025.
On New Year’s Day, Trillium Health Partners announced that a baby boy was delivered at exactly midnight at Mississauga Hospital.
“Congratulations to the proud parents on the arrival of your beautiful little one,” the hospital network said in a post on X.
Minutes later, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, baby Harper was born weighing 7 lbs and 14 ounces to parents Chris and Machaela O’Heir.
“Baby Harper joins older brother Oliver, who was also born at NYGH. Best wishes and congratulations to the O’Heir family,” the hospital wrote in a tweet.
In the city’s west end, Etobicoke General Hospital said parents Jahanara Samia and Mohammad Shohag welcomed their bundle of joy at 6:30 a.m. William Osler Health System said the baby boy was born weighing 6 lbs and 7 ounces.
“Osler extends its best wishes and congratulations to the new parents and their family, and to all the families welcoming new babies at this special time,” the hospital network wrote in a news release.
