Various breads and buns recalled due to pieces of metal: CFIA
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for several brands of bread and buns due to pieces of metal in the products.
The affected goods were sold in Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.
A total of 37 products were recalled, including from the brands Country Harvest, D’Italiano, Great Value, No Name and Wonder. A full list of the recalled products can be found on the CFIA’s website.
According to the advisory, the recalling firm is Wonder Brands Inc. Those with affected products should not eat or sell them.
The advisory, which was posted on Monday, did not include how many affected products had been sold. A related recall linked by CFIA stated that recalling firm Compass Minerals Canada Corp. was recalling two bulk salt products due to pieces of metal.
This latest recall comes after Giant Tiger issued a voluntary recall of 15 Wonder Brands Inc. products in their stores due to “a potential foreign material in the products.” Costco also posted a recall on their wholesale site on Oct. 29 for specific Wonder Brands Inc. products purchased in Ontario between Oct. 24 and Oct. 25.
“This recall is in response to a recall initiated by Compass Minerals, the raw material supplier of salt used in the bread products,” the Costco advisory states.
Both Giant Tiger and Costco stated that products in their recalls could be returned to stores for a full refund.
