Brandon landfill closed due to fire
The City of Brandon’s landfill is temporarily closed because of a fire at the site.
According to a City release, the blaze started in an active cell at the Eastview Landfill on Friday night. Brandon fire crews are on-scene attempting to put the fire out on Saturday morning.
Brandon residents are asked to avoid the area as smoke from the fire could pose a health risk.
The City notes garbage and recycling collection scheduled for the upcoming week will not be impacted by the temporarily closure.
