The season for outdoor pools is coming to an end in Winnipeg, but most of the city-run spray pads are getting an extension on their summer.
The water won’t be shut off in the vast majority of the city’s 26 spray pad locations until Sept. 8. Only the ones at Boyd Park and the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre will go dry on Sept. 3.
All of them were initially supposed to close Sept. 3, but the city issued a news release on Wednesday saying it wanted to give everyone a bit more time to cool off.
However, a handful of the city’s pools — Fort Garry Lions, Provencher, Windsor Park — are getting drained at the end of the day on Friday.
Freight House, Kildonan Park, St. Vital, Transcona Aquatic Park and Westdale will be emptied at the end of the day on Sept. 2.
Most wading pools have already closed, while the following six will follow suit at the end of Labour Day (Monday):
- Central Park.
- Dakota Park.
- Ducharme Park.
- Keenleyside Park.
- McKittrick Park.
- St. John’s Park.
