Main Street Project struggling with financial donations, asking for help from Manitobans
Main Street Project is in need of financial donations.
The organization shared Friday that it has only received around 50 per cent of total donations needed for this time of year.
“All of the financial donations that we receive here at Main Street Project, they go directly into our programs and services supporting the community,” said Cindy Titus, the communications manager at Main Street.
From the outreach vehicles that provide support to people on Winnipeg streets to the emergency shelter that has 120 beds for people to sleep, Titus said the money goes into every avenue of their work.
“Winnipeg is known as one of the most generous cities in the country, and so we’re reaching out to folks to ask for help during this time of year.”
Titus believes the economic struggles mixed with the Canada Post strike impacted the number of donations this year.
However, she said if people want to send money in the mail, they can still do so.
“I think that now that Canada Post is back to work, folks can mail in a cheque, as long as it’s postdated before the end of the year, it will count toward their 2024 tax-deductible charitable receipts. So definitely consider Main Street Project in your year-end giving. We really need the financial donations and we’d really appreciate it.”
Titus said donations can be made online, through e-transfer, and over the phone.
