Man, 40, charged with weapons trafficking after police bust workshop making 3D-printed firearms
A man has been arrested and charged with weapons trafficking after police busted a 3D-printing workshop in Winnipeg, where officers found handguns and several imitation firearms earlier this week.
Officers began their investigation earlier this month, looking into a man they believed was manufacturing firearms and weapons using a 3D printer, police said in a news release Friday.
Officers who executed a search warrant at a home in Beresford Avenue near Osborne Street on Thursday uncovered a fully operational 3D printing workshop, police say.
At the home, officers located 3D-printed batons, electrical discharge devices in various states of production and handguns.
Police also found imitation firearms, including a missile launcher, machine guns and pistols.
Officers arrested a 40-year-old man from Winnipeg at the home on Thursday. He has since been charged with several offences, including weapons trafficking, possession of restricted or prohibited firearms and failing to comply with probation orders.
Police said they continue to investigate and are asking anyone with additional information to contact officers at 204-986-3258 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).
