Several schools, buses cancelled in Manitoba due to blowing snow, dicey roads
Poor visibility and hazardous road conditions have prompted several school cancellations for Thursday in southern Manitoba.
There are no weather alerts in the province but many communities, particularly in rural areas, are facing drifting and blowing snow.
The following divisions have cancelled all classes for the day:
- Fort La Bosse.
- Lakeshore.
- Prairie Spirit.
- Southwest Horizon.
- Turtle Mountain.
The Franco-Manitoban School Division has cancelled classes at three schools — École La Source (Shilo)
École Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, École Gilbert-Rosset (Saint-Claude) — but all others are open.
Similarly, Hutterite colony schools in the Rolling River School Division are closed but classes are on as scheduled in all other schools.
Schools are open but buses are not running in Beautiful Plains School Division and Mountain View School Division.
In the Brandon School Division, no buses are operating outside the city and Alexander, O’Kelly and Spring Valley Schools are closed.
All other schools in the division are open with buses operating within the city. However, attendance at schools is at parental discretion where travel is required.
