Winnipeg begins residential parking ban, will temporarily allow parking on snow routes
The City of Winnipeg will be enforcing a multi-day residential parking ban starting Wednesday night, following snowfall on Sunday and Monday.
The ban will start Wednesday at 7 p.m. and continue until Saturday at 7 a.m., the city said in a release on Tuesday.
The city says it’s plowing snow from sidewalks and pathways on main routes Tuesday, and will start plowing snow from Priority 2 streets at 7 p.m.
Residential street plowing by snow zone will follow that, starting Wednesday night.
During the residential parking ban, the city is suspending its winter route parking ban, which normally prohibits parking on designated winter routes from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m., according to the city.
Drivers must continue to adhere to any other temporary or unrelated on-street signage that may prohibit parking on these routes, such as no-parking signs in loading zones or in certain areas during rush hour.
The winter route parking ban will once again be in effect after the residential ban ends, the city says.
Residential clearing will be done by zone, which can be found by searching the city’s interactive snow map, downloading the Know Your Zone app or contacting 311.
The residential snow clearing and parking ban schedule is:
- 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday in zones C, F, H, N, S and U.
- Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in zones D, I, K, O, R and T.
- 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday in zones E, G, J, L, M, P and Q.
- Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in zones B and V.
- 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday in zone A.
Vehicles parked in violation of the residential parking ban might receive a $200 ticket, or $150 if paid early, the city says.
Residents who need to report a missed residential street can contact 311 or use the city’s online form.
